The Lost Dogs' Home's newest initiative 'The Human Walking Program' began in Melbourne, Australia with a simple thought 'Perhaps it's us who need saving as much as the shelter dogs'.
In April of 2014 the Home held the first ever Human Walking Program in Flagstaff Gardens in the central business district of Melbourne. Over three hours at lunch time office workers were encouraged to shrug off the shackles of sedentary corporate life and meet up with one of our dogs available for adoption for a quick walk, pat and introduction.
It was a tremendous success. National media picked up the story reaching over 175,000 people in the week of the event. It then went viral worldwide. And every dog from the event found a new home.
We encourage shelters around the world to run their very own Human Walking
Program in their home towns. Find out how to become a host below.
